Risk management is seeking a student office assistant for part-time data entry, communications, and general office support, with an emphasis on youth programs and volunteers.

Job description

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • reviewing and responding to youth program registration and volunteer registration inquiries and submissions in a timely and organized manner.
  • daily processing of background check requests, MVR requests, and training course requirement completions.
  • administrative tasks including data entry, filing, and use of multiple online systems.
  • customer service support, including answering routine questions and/or sending correspondence related to youth programs, volunteer registration, background check process, or referring to other staff when appropriate.
  • performing miscellaneous tasks for risk management staff and areas outside youth and volunteer programs as needed.

Job skills/requirements

The successful candidate will be friendly and outgoing, have excellent communication, organizational and computer skills, be customer-service focused, have a strong attention to detail, and be able to work independently. Must demonstrate professionalism and the ability to maintain confidentiality. Proficient use of Excel for data management and Outlook for email communication is required. Experience using Box for file sharing and storage is desirable. This position will be a combination of remote and in-office support. Candidates must be in Ames area for summer break and have access to a private work space and reliable internet while working remotely.

The ideal candidate will be available 20 hours per week during the summer (must be enrolled for the fall semester). Up to 20 hours per week may be available while enrolled in classes during the fall and spring semesters.

Submit your application materials by the end of day Monday, April 14th. Select candidates will be invited to interview the week of April 21st. Interested applicants must pass a criminal background check.

Starting salary is $15.00 per hour.

The free, virtual conference is designed to provide information, support, and inspiration for our youth program leaders and other interested faculty, staff and stakeholders who work with youth programming at Iowa State.
