Vehicle Claims
University Vehicle Accident Reporting
Accidents must be reported by university drivers, regardless of who
was hurt, what property was damaged, where it occurred, or who was
responsible when the accident occurs during the course of
university business. All Transportation Services vehicles contain
an information packet with instructions about what to do in case
you are in an accident or you need fuel or repairs. The packet
contains complete instructions, insurance information, and forms.

Vehicle Coverage
Iowa State University participates with other Iowa Board of Regents, State of Iowa institutions in the Iowa Regents Motor Vehicle Self-Insurance Program for liability on motor vehicles. The Iowa Regents Motor Vehicle Self-Insurance Program includes coverage for comprehensive and collision damage to University vehicles, subject to a $500 deductible per loss. The deductible will be assessed to the department.
